Tuesday, April 8, 2014, 6 – 8:30pm

In conjunction with Public Theologians for Humanity, Candler’s Sacred Worth and Social Concerns Network are hosting an educational screening of the film God Loves Uganda. All are welcome to join these organizations for a viewing of the film and talk-back discussion.

The American Evangelical exportation of intolerance, particularly against LGBT persons, has reached a new dangerous level. Most recently, the Ugandan ‘Kill the Gays’ bill has been making international headlines. This notorious bill, which is largely American influenced, seeks to harshen the punishment and criminalization of homosexuality.

God Loves Uganda follows Evangelical leaders in America and Uganda, as well as politicians and missionaries, as they attempt the radical task of eliminating “sexual sin” and converting Ugandans to fundamentalist Christianity. Interviews and hidden camera footage give unprecedented access into the rising influence of the evangelical movement in Uganda and the dangerous repercussions of intolerance.

God Loves Uganda premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and is currently playing at film festivals around the world. For more information on God Loves Uganda and to view a trailer visit http://www.godlovesuganda.com.
