This Session:
Interactive Art & Body Prayer Installation Phase II:   Restorative, healing practice with an emphasis on floor postures, gentle stretches and restful postures allowing the deep layers of the connective tissue to relax and deeply recharge creative and life energy in the body. This practice might include accompaniment by Christian contemplative music to help guide the postures, therefore gifting us as "places of abiding" to move into stillness and recharge energy.  This phase will include a facilitated reflection allowing participants actively to engage with the art images presented in the space through journaling and a guided collective creative process.  Sources will be the shared experience of the body prayer, sacred text and the art in the room. Tea, journals and art materials will be supplied.

For Candler students, faculty or staff (not open to the general public) of all levels of physical ability who seek to deepen the contemplative dimension of their lives through the practice of yoga and meditation in the ecumenical Christian tradition.  Gentle yoga stretching, yoga postures and breathing exercises are introduced not only as a path for relaxation, increased concentration, rejuvenation and stress reduction, but also as a way to open the heart and body to a life-giving encounter with the transforming spirit of Christ within.  Participants will practice in the context of an art installation created by the instructor.  No prior experience is necessary!

Instructor: Ingrid Hauss, certified yoga teacher in Hatha yoga, Kripalu yoga, and Pilates, spiritual director, and artist.  Ingrid has conducted classes and workshops in body prayer, Christian meditation, yoga and art in Canada, the United States and Europe.  Ingrid lives in Vancouver, Canada, where she teaches yoga, Pilates, connective tissue release, stress reduction and relaxation techniques in a variety of settings.

How to Participate: Ingrid will offer three opportunities to practice yoga as body prayer.
